Giving life to the root word of the bag’s name in Bahasa Indonesia, ‘muda’ which means ‘youths’ or ‘youthful’, Bermuda Bag brings a fresh perspective to a Dayak staple item. Taking an Anjat (decorative basket used for special occasions) as a jumping-off point, the next generation of artisans explored and found firmer footing in their artistic and creative selves. Through Bermuda Bag, the relationship of young Dayak artisans with rattan materials and weaving is strengthened. Nurturing deeper love and appreciation towards craftsmanship and cultural heritage amongst the Dayak youth.
